Phil Giebler Racing Enters Six Drivers For SKUSA ProKart Challenge South

ROSAMOND, March 10, 2011: Phil Giebler Racing will enter six drivers in the second round of the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge South at Willow Springs International Motorsports Park kart track Friday and Saturday (March 11-12).

Owner Giebler, the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year in 2007, will race a shifter kart in the Extreme Karting S1 Pro Stock Moto division, Chris Cricca of Simi Valley, Calif., and Andrew Wiener of Chula Vista, Calif., will be in the Tony Kart West-sponsored TaG Senior, Steve Wiener of Chula Vista will be in TaG Master, Vatche Tatikian of North Hollywood, Calif., will be in S3 and Noah Grey of Dana Point, Calif., will be in Phil Giebler Racing-sponsored TaG Cadet.

Grey had the top main event finish, second, for PGR in the South season opener at Adams Motorsport Park in Riverside, Calif., on Feb. 5. Giebler, of Huntington Beach, Calif., had heat victories in S1 and TaG Senior. He was third in the other heat in S1, but a wreck knocked him out in the main. In TaG Senior, Giebler was leading the second heat when his engine failed and there wasn’t time to locate another for the main.

Cricca finished eighth and Andrew Wiener 11th in the TaG Senior main event. Steve Wiener was fourth in the TaG Master main. Tatikian was sixth in the S3 main.

“Noah (Grey) had a very good race at Adams and I had a great day going until the engine broke in TaG Senior,” Giebler said. “It was the first race of the year for most of our drivers and we’ve gotten the rust off. Our team is extremely motivated and expects a better overall performance in the second round of the South championship.”

Giebler is running the full S1 season to prepare for the SKUSA Pro Tour and will drive in TaG Senior in selected events. Giebler was the TaG Senior SKUSA South champion in 2010.

Phil Giebler Racing is sponsoring TaG Cadet for the entire South season.

“We are sponsoring the TaG Cadet class to help support SKUSA and the newest class offered for the young drivers in the series,” Giebler said. “I think it’s important to have a good professional class for drivers eight-to-12 years old. There is very good equality with the Vortex MiniRok engines.

“It’s great competition for them and they don’t have to spend lots of extra money to find a good engine. We pulled engines straight out of the box and have won with a complete stock setup. That says a lot about the quality of the Vortex products.”

Phil Giebler Racing, based in Orange, Calif., uses FA Karts powered by 125cc water-cooled Vortex Racing engines built by Daniel Patino’s D-Power Engines, of Huntington Beach, Calif., in TaG Senior, TaG Junior and TaG Master. Grey also has a FA Kart and is powered by 60cc Vortex MiniRok engine. The entire PGR team will race on MG Tires.
