CHARLOTTE, Jan. 11, 2011: Veteran motorsports PR executive Ron Green has joined True Speed Communication in the role of vice president, where he’ll assist with new business development and strategic planning from the company’s Indianapolis office.

Green, who has more than 23 years of experience which includes time spent as an information specialist for the Indiana Department of Commerce (1988) and the Indiana General Assembly (1989-1992), will work with Mike Arning, who has been promoted to True Speed Communication’s senior vice president.

Green comes to the niche motorsports public relations and marketing agency from his own firm, which he founded after heading up Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s public relations, media and community relations initiatives from 2002 to 2009, where he developed the media and PR campaign for the track’s ongoing Centennial Era campaign. While there, he also oversaw similar directives for the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, IMS Productions and Brickyard Authentics retail stores. Prior to his tenure at the Speedway, Green was the director of media relations for the Indy Racing League from 1999 through 2003, and before that, was director of public relations at Charlotte Motor Speedway from 1996 to 1999.

“Ron brings a wealth of experience to True Speed Communication,” Arning said. “His time spent at Indianapolis Motor Speedway gives him unmatched knowledge in NASCAR, the IZOD IndyCar Series, Formula One and MotoGP that will serve us well as we continue to grow True Speed Communication and maintain its status as an industry leader.

“Ron has literally gotten his hands dirty in the grassroots ranks of USAC and by promoting all of the details surrounding top-notch events on racing’s grandest stage, most notably the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400 and USGP. We do it all at True Speed Communication, where a hands-on approach is the only approach. He’ll fit right in with the rest of the team.”

Green graduated from Ball State University in 1987 with a degree in journalism. His media career began as a staff reporter for National Speed Sports News and co-host of a weekly motorsports radio show in Indianapolis. The native of Beech Grove, Ind., went on to work for USAC as a communications assistant from 1992 to 1994 before joining Indianapolis Raceway Park in Claremont, Ind., as the track’s PR director in 1995 where he coordinated USAC, NHRA and NASCAR-sanctioned events.
