Hot on the heels of the 14th Annual Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shootout, Skip Barber Racing School is announcing the schedule for the 14th year of the Skip Barber National Race Series.

The 2011 14-race season of the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda will kick off at Sebring International Raceway, joining the festivities of the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring. From there, the racers will compete on some of America’s best road courses: Virginia International Raceway, Lime Rock Park, Road America, Road Atlanta, and Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.

Virginia International Raceway, Road America, Road Atlanta and the finale weekend at Lime Rock Park will be in conjunction with the Skip Barber Regional Race Series. This not only guarantees the drivers more race time, but allows the option for them to pick up additional seat time through Lapping Sessions and similar activities. Drivers will also be able to receive even more coaching and feedback, as more Skip Barber Racing School instructors will be at this event.

Rounds 1 & 2: March 16-18 at the 12hrs of Sebring with ALMS
Rounds 3 & 4: April 29-May 1 at Virginia International Raceway with Skip Barber Regional Series
Rounds 5 & 6: May 27-30 at Lime Rock Park with Grand Am
Rounds 7 & 8: July 1-3 at Road America with Skip Barber Regional Series
Rounds 9 & 10: July 21-23 at Road Atlanta with Skip Barber Regional Series
Rounds 11 & 12: Sept 16-18 at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course with Grand Am
Rounds 13 & 14: Oct 6-8 at Lime Rock Park with Skip Barber Regional Series

The winner of the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda receives funding to compete in USF2000, the next step in the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder System. Along with BFGoodrich and Mazda, Parathyroid.com and California Scents will return in 2011 as trusted partners. Skip Barber Racing School will also continue its relationships with Florida Winter Tour and the World Karting Association in solidifying the foundation of the open-wheel motorsports latter system.

Earlier this month, young racers Trent Hindman, 15, and Danilo Estrela, 17, both attended the Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shootout and each received scholarships to compete in the full 2011 season of the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda. 15-year old Tristan Nunez won a scholarship for half of the 2011 season.

The Skip Barber National is the series that launched the auto racing careers of Ryan Hunter- Reay, Marco Andretti, A.J. Allmendinger, and Joel Miller, plus dozens of other drivers succeeding in IndyCar, NASCAR, Grand-Am, American Le Mans Series, and the SCCA. Skip Barber National drivers have won at the prestigious Formula Ford Festival and last year, two Skip Barber National Champions, Conor Daly and Connor De Phillippi, won the annual Walter Hayes Trophy. Up-and-coming young Skip Barber National alumni also include Alexander Rossi, Sage Karam, Spencer Pigot and Felix Serralles. Share the Passion.
