Irwindale, November 22, 2010: With a special night for the fans set for Friday November 26 set for the fans and Canidae Natural Pet Foods as the title sponsor of the brand-new $50,000 California Stock Car Classic it seems a perfect fit for the “Fast Friends” Greyhound Rescue organization to bring a number of their friends who are looking for good homes to Toyota Speedway to meet some of the racing fans.

“We’re very pleased that the Canidae people set this event up for us,” said Speedway GM/Vice President, Bob DeFazio. “These noble animals are so beautiful and so friendly, which is something that many people just never have a chance to find out. When Canidae suggested that we include “Fast Friends” as part of our special fan day at the track, we were quite enthusiastic about the opportunity.”

“These dogs are all either retired racers or animals that just weren’t fast enough to become racing dogs,” said DeFazio. “Either way, they are some of the calmest, most loving dogs there are. People are always amazed at how truly sweet these guys are. Hopefully, with the help of Canidae, the dedicated people from this rescue group will be able to introduce a number of them to our great fans.”

The Greyhound “compound” will be located right under the grandstands at the Speedway and open during the special open pits hours (4 to 6PM) on Friday night, November 26. “Everyone in our group is very exciting about this unusual opportunity to show people what great, loyal family pets these dogs make,” organization leader Joyce McRorie told us, “They love kids, love to play, and love to cuddle up, just like human racers,” she smiled.
