The Heat is On At Coventry

Coventry, Nov. 3, 2010: The BriSCA F1 Stock Cars National Points Championship draws to a close at MCM Coventry Stadium and the heat is on for 12 qualifying drivers to produce the performance of their careers, to make the HEMT 2010 National Points Championship title their own.

Leading point scorer after round nine of the Shoot Out series of races is reigning World Champion Andrew Smith, with arch rival Frankie Wainman Junior only a few points adrift.

Going into the finale on the Coventry shaleway, the points table currently looks like this: 1 (1) Andrew Smith 298

2 (515) Frankie Wainman 281 3 (259) Paul Hines 255 4 (84) Tom Harris 243 4 (4) Dan Johnson 243 6 (55) Craig Finnikin 231 7 (2) Paul Harrison 222 8 (16) Matt Newson 172 9 (53) John Lund 150 10 (12) Michael Scriven 132 11 (212) Danny Wainman 121 12 (464) Luke Davidson 80

During the meeting, these 12 drivers have the opportunity to score double points for their efforts.

Winning is all important throughout the heats, final, consolation and grand national - a heat win yields 24 points, consolation 16 points, final a massive 50 points and grand national 32 + plus a ten-point bonus for finishing the race.

Andrew Smith, Frankie Wainman Junior, Paul Hines, Tom Harris, Dan Johnson, Craig Finnikin and Paul Harrison - seven drivers, all within striking distance of taking the National Points Championship Trophy; all need to maximise their point scoring to realise their dream of racing in 2011 as the HEMT National Points Champion, with a silver roof on their car.

All drivers down to 12th place will share the enhanced prize funding sponsored by HEMT, so the higher the points, the better the reward.

The skies may be grey and temperatures may be falling, but at Coventry on Saturday 6 November it will be hot, hot, hot, as the tension mounts.

A little light relief between the BriSCA F1 races will be provided by the popular V8 Hot Stox formula, then - after the Consolation race - Fireworks. The biggest display ever at Coventry, as a fitting tribute to the drivers who will be delivering their own brand of fireworks all night.

MCM Coventry Stadium, Rugby Road, Brandon, Coventry CV8 3GJ Start time 7.00pm.
