The Key to Restoring Our Economic Health is the Quick and Absolute Adoption of Alternative Energy Technologies, Fuels and Vehicles

• Economic growth and prosperity will not come about by doling out more welfare.

• It will not come about because we make temporary repairs to our nation’s roads.

• And it will certainly not come about because we have tried to fix an overly expensive medical system with a cumbersome, even more expensive bureaucracy.

Economic growth and prosperity will only be achieved by developing new enterprises that provide huge numbers of private-sector jobs and profits. The only business sector that offers a realistic potential for such jobs and profits is alternative energy technologies, fuels and vehicles. But this will not take place as long as we continue to be slaves to the petroleum oil and gasoline industry, and as long as we continue to send hundreds of billions of dollars every year to enemy dictators and regimes.

We produce in America, right now, the alternative fuels that can free us from gasoline addiction. They are ethanol, CNG (compressed natural gas) and propane. The barriers to our widespread general use of these fuels have been put in place by the oil and gasoline lobby.

What are the barriers specifically?

First, there are the lies and misconceptions about ethanol, CNG and propane that frighten consumers away from these fuels. These are lies that claim that the alt-fuels damage engines, inhibit vehicle performance, cause more environmental problems then they solve, interfere with the global food supply, and that government subsidies to assist in the production and distribution of alt-fuels are unusual, unfair, excessive and unpatriotic.

Second, campaign contributions and other financial inducements sway congressmen, representatives and state legislators from voting for the passage of strong pro-American energy-independence proposals as well as the elimination of useless federal and state rules that block gasoline-engine conversions. Ethanol, CNG and propane are now, and have been, safely used as engine fuels in countries all over the globe (including the U.S.) for at least as long as gasoline. Engine conversions, if done at the factory are inexpensive and easy to do. After market engine conversions would also be easy and safe, and the costs for CNG and propane conversions would drop substantially. Currently, the cost for converting a gasoline engine to CNG or propane is obscenely high due to the burdensome fees that the government imposes. Conversion kits are available from trusted domestic and international suppliers.

Third, auto manufacturers are dissuaded from building and/or marketing vehicles that could readily use the alternative fuels; even though the manufacturers not only know how to do so, they do it for the same models sold in other countries.

The above mentioned alternative fuels need no additional testing or trials; they are ready to go. Moreover, almost all gasoline-powered vehicles produced since the early 1990’s can safely and efficiently use high proportions of ethanol with no conversions or adjustments needed to your engine. This means that starting immediately you can put e85 in your fuel tank and save money, reduce the amount of U.S. dollars being sent to our enemies, and cut harmful emissions.

Algae biofuel technology is also at a stage where it is a proven process for producing diesel and gasoline substitutes. It just needs government acceptance and assistance in securing space for algae production. Added to ethanol, CNG and propane, we have four excellent liquid fuel options. Although, by itself domestically produced ethanol can replace all gasoline used in America.

We can create millions of jobs right now. We can make a dramatic improvement in the environment in the very near term. We can stop the flow of billions of dollars out of the country, and we can deal a death blow to terrorists and their supporters. We can do all of this without electric cars, which will not have an appreciable effect on our economy and environment for decades, if ever.
