Krohn Racing: Montreal 200 Post-Race Report - August 29, 2010

The Montreal 200 race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve saw the No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola finish in seventh place in the two hour, 62-lap race in Montreal, Canada, their third best finish of the season. Team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn also won the Jim Trueman Award for Sportsman drivers.

Krohn suffered a spin when he was hit from behind on Lap 19 during a restart following the second of four cautions. He was able to continue under his own power without pitting. The No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola pitted on Lap 26 at nearly the halfway mark to turn the car over to co-driver Nic Jönsson who brought the car home in the seventh position.

Once again, the No. 01 TELMEX/Chip Ganassi BMW Riley of Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas, GRAND-AM points leaders, collected their eighth victory of the 12-race 2010 season.

KROHN, Team Owner/Driver No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola: “We started the race eighth after qualifying ninth on the grid and a car dropped to the back when they did a motor change. Unfortunately, I got hit from behind at the restart. Overall I was pleased with my lap times. It is always nice to win the Jim Trueman Award for Sportsman drivers.”

NIC JONSSON, Driver, No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Proto-Auto Lola: “The car was not as competitive as yesterday. It was all about not getting the car to turn in the chicanes. I’m pretty convinced we lost about a second through the chicanes. It was a little unpredictable. It’s a little disappointing. We took the car home in seventh place and in one piece so that’s something. We can go back home now and prepare for the last race of the year at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah next month. Tracy did a great job and the team prepped the car again good, as they always do.”

DAVID BROWN, Krohn Racing Team Manager and Engineer: “Another car got pushed back because it had an engine change so we ended up starting eighth on the grid. Tracy drove well in his stint. We intended to stop early in the race anyway so the first yellow suited us. We pitted under that. We ran up to the yellow, which was a little early for our pit window and, I think for most people’s pit window. We stopped in that yellow because it was a fairly lengthy window and fuel was no longer a problem for us for the rest of the race. Subsequently there were yellows anyway. We finished with an enormous amount of fuel in the car. The race was quite strung out. There was a good battle in the GT class. We ended up finishing seventh and Tracy won the Jim Trueman Award, which is very nice.”
