Everything About Gasoline Just Sucks - Yeah, this is an Editorial

Residue from a gasoline tank

I'm sitting here at my computers editing and posting videos from the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Happy in a blissful lack-of-sleep trance.

I just happened to look back at a Porsche video I posted almost 24-hours ago; the #2 Porsche 918 Spyder Concept video. It shook me out of my reverie. Not just because it's a beautiful looking sports car; typically Porsche-looking but jazzed up. But what stirred me and got my juices flowing was the announcer's comment that the plug-in electric version of the 918 will go from 0-100 KPH (0-60 MPH) in 3.2 seconds. It will run faster than a Carrera GT.

Now, I'm didn't learn anything new, and I may not be telling many of you anything new about how fast electric cars can be compared to gasoline-powered cars, but the combination of the car's looks, the facts, and my general "pissed-off" attitude about how slow the whole alt-fuel revolution is taking place, was just too much.

So let me just remind everyone about a few things:

Gasoline sucks. It's poison; it costs too much; and it's controlled by the world's worst people.

Alcohol (ethanol), CNG (compressed natural gas), propane (autogas in Europe) all are better. They are cheaper, cleaner, and can all be produced in abundant quantity domestically. We don't even need to send soldiers to hell-holes to protect our supply (and I have nothing against a good military action). And these are all available NOW.

Electric, when and if it comes into play this century, will also be good, but who knows when the electrification games will really end.

We don't need gasoline. We should mandate its quick end as an engine fuel. Here's a piece I wrote about this topic in June 2008. No New Gasoline-Powered Vehicles by 2014... Read it. Eat it. Love it. Call your local politicians and scream nicely at them. Watch our videos and visit TheAutoChannel.com every day.

Thank you for listening.

Oh, by the way, everything about gasoline sucks!
