Unique Perspective TV Show Premieres This Saturday

LOUISVILLE, KY – November 18, 2008: The Auto Channel has announced that its highly acclaimed Internet video series “ROAD TRIP” is migrating to traditional television. Beginning Saturday, November 22, the half-hour show can be seen on Comcast SportsNet cable network. New episodes will follow on a weekly basis. Specific show times will vary, depending upon the network’s regional markets. The series will also begin airing on select local broadcast television stations in the second quarter of 2009.

The show, which features in-depth, behind-the-wheel interviews with top automotive executives, has been available on TACH’s website TheAutoChannel.com since 2005. “What makes this series different from other car TV programs is the way we conduct the interviews,” said Marc J. Rauch, The Auto Channel’s Executive Vice President and the show’s Director. “We put the auto companies’ top executives, designers and engineers behind the wheel and let them tell us about the vehicle as they drive us through some of the country’s most scenic roads.”

Participants have included Johan de Nysschen, Audi of America’s Executive Vice President; Jim McDowell, MINI USA's Vice President; Mat Harget, Chief Engineer of the 2009 Acura TL; Michael Brachvogel, BMW's Deputy Product Manager; and Norbert Krause, Director of Volkswagen's Engineering and Environmental Office. Featured vehicles have included the Bentley Continental GTC, Mitsubishi Evo and Lancer Ralliart, VW Jetta TDI, Audi R8 and S5, Ford Taurus and Hybrid Escape, Roush Performance Mustang 427R TrakPak, MINI Cooper S, Chrysler Sebring Convertible, BMW 3 Series, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Prius 100 MPG Plug-in, and a Bosch Diesel-Powered Jeep Cherokee concept.

Bob Gordon, The Auto Channel’s President and show Executive Producer, said, “We’re delighted to share our ROAD TRIP series with a new audience. We’ve always felt that the show’s unique perspective would be of great interest to everyone, and now we have the opportunity to prove it.”

ROAD TRIP is primarily hosted by The Auto Channel’s Mark Fulmer, who is also the show’s creator. David Ray, founder of Hooked On Driving is one of the series’ alternate hosts. An online extended version of the series will continue to be seen on TheAutoChannel.com. These extended shows will contain footage that is trimmed to meet the TV half-hour format.
