COPENHAGEN, Denmark - July 12: Rotrex has developed a fully variable electrical driven supercharger for the automotive and transportation markets. The first project is for a fuel cell hybrid solution, but the product is also targeted to mild and full hybrids for normal combustion engines, whether based on gasoline, diesel, or bio-fuels.

The fuel cell hybrid solution is developed together with a German customer for a 25kW system based on a PEM fuel cell in combination with a battery and a supercapacitor. The cost efficient scalability and the modular development approach secure cost efficient solutions from 10kW up to 300kW.

Due to the inherent design of the efficient Rotrex traction drive, that can achieve speeds up to 300,000 rpm, high speed and efficient, low inertia impellers can be applied. The electrical motor only needs to turn up to 20,000 rpm. Thus the crucial response time to reach 90% boost is lower than 300 milliseconds.

"The key characteristics of our products, securing compact, silent, efficient, ad cost competitive boosting solutions, are also key in our electrical supercharger. We are truly proud of our recent developments, which prove the adaptability of our core traction technology and the capabilities of our team, who through good co-operation with technical partners and customers develops excellent solutions," states Managing Director Ole Broedsgaard.

"Rotrex has a proven track record primarily within the performance segment. Now we also have the products for the high volume downsizing markets. We are therefore in a process of identifying new owners who are going to further support the industrialization of our products," reveals Ole Broedsgaard.

About Rotrex A/S

Rotrex A/S is a technology driven company focused on providing leading solutions within forced induction systems for the automotive industry. Rotrex dates back to the early 1970's when Anders Kolstrup -- today Technical Director, then a passionate race driver, continuously was striving for improvements in engine performance. In 1996 the first traction technology patent was issued and in 2000 the company became part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.

Today Rotrex develops, manufactures, and markets superchargers based on the patented traction drive technology for OEM, OES, and Aftermarket companies worldwide. The aim is to develop leading forced induction solutions through constant innovation, high quality standards and second to none customer service.
