LoJack Helps Las Vegas Police & Auto Theft Task Force Break Up Two Motorcycle Theft Rings in Less Than 48 Hours

10 Suspects Arrested; Four Honda CBR Motorcycles and Yamaha ATV Recovered

WESTWOOD, Mass., June 17 -- In less than 48 hours, LoJack Corporation's LoJack For Motorcycles was instrumental in helping Las Vegas police and the Southern Nevada Auto Theft Task Force break up two theft rings June 14-16. The operations led to the recovery of four Honda CBR motorcycles, a Yamaha ATV and the arrest of 10 suspects. The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System once again proved its effectiveness in recovering stolen assets and helped police apprehend the criminals behind these crimes.

LoJack-Equipped 2006 Honda CBR600 Motorcycle Leads Law Enforcement Officials to Chop Shop Operated by Known Street Gang Member

In this recovery, a Las Vegas resident had left his garage door open and later discovered his 2006 Honda CBR600 motorcycle stolen. Once the LoJack Unit was activated, Las Vegas police and the Southern Nevada Auto Theft Task Force located the stolen bike in the garage of a known street gang member. After a search warrant was obtained, officers discovered the stolen Honda CBR600 equipped with the LoJack, along with a stolen 2001 Honda CBR900 inside the garage. Seven suspects were arrested on a variety of charges including "Operating a Chop Shop," "Possession of Stolen Property" and "Grand Larceny Auto."

Officials Bust Chop Shop and Arrest Three

In this recovery, a Las Vegas resident discovered his motorcycle missing from his home shortly after midnight. He contacted the Las Vegas police and, later that morning, officers tracked the silent LoJack signal installed on the stolen 2006 Honda CBR600 to a residential garage located five miles away from where it had been stolen. Las Vegas police and the Southern Nevada Auto Theft Task Force acquired a search warrant and discovered the Honda CBR600 along with another stolen 2006 Honda CBR600. Fortunately, the officers arrived just as the suspects were preparing to strip one of the bikes. Three suspects were arrested for "Operating a Chop Shop," "Possession of Stolen Property" and "Grand Larceny Auto." A 2007 Yamaha ATV, which was reported stolen two days before, was also recovered without any known damage.
