One of the first fleet orders for the new Citroën C5 saloon has just been delivered to Egton Medical Information Systems Ltd (EMIS). The company, one of Citroën’s longest-standing fleet customers, has ordered 15 new C5 1.6HDi and 2.0HDi VTR+ saloons as part of its 90 strong 2008 vehicle purchase programme.

This year’s EMIS Citroën order also includes 55 C4 five-door hatchbacks, as well as Berlingo vans and C4 Picasso MPVs. All the vehicles are being purchased outright and have been supplied by Citroën dealer David Fox of Harrogate. EMIS, which is the UK's leading IT supplier in primary healthcare, has been operating Citroën cars for 16 years and today has a virtually all-Citroën, all HDi powered, 350+ strong fleet, the bulk of which are C4 five door hatchbacks.

Rachel McLaughlan, Egton Medical Information Systems Ltd’s fleet manager, remarks, “We are very impressed with the quality and predicted residual values of the new C5. Based on 16 years of Citroën operational experience we know that this car will provide the low whole life costs and reliability we require, together with high standards of comfort and safety for our drivers. Also, we continue to be impressed by the excellent fuel economy and low emissions characteristics of the 1.6HDi and 2.0HDi engines. As an environmentally-aware company, EMIS is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and Citroën HDi powered cars have proved to be an effective means of achieving this goal.”

As a leading supplier to the primary healthcare sector EMIS hosts some 40 million electronic patient records within its systems. Well over half the doctors in the UK currently use EMIS software each day. The company, which has its headquarters in Rawdon, Leeds, has also expanded its operations to include the supply of tailored IT systems for the educational sector. EMIS will allocate its new Citroën C5 order to the company’s regional directors and business development managers who provide its customers with a high level of local area support. The Citroëns run by EMIS will be operated for between 100,000 to 110,000 miles which, dependent on operation, equates to a service life of 36 to 42 months.
