Harker Twins considered for the Lyn St James 'Project Podium' Grant

Gainesville, GA. - NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster drivers, Kate and Diana Harker have been selected along with sixteen other young women drivers across multiple arenas of motorsport for consideration of the Lyn St James 'Project Podium' Scholarship Grant. Each applicant will be reviewed by a volunteer panel of motorsports and business professionals with recipients being announced late-May.

The 25 year old identical twins applied for the scholarship program which aims to help young women drivers achieve their goals of reaching the top spot on the podium, winning races and championships and moving onto the top levels of their chosen motorsports.

"This is a wonderful opportunity that Lyn St James and the 'Women in the Winners Circle Foundation' is providing for young females in Motorsports, really giving them the chance to develop their skills both as professional drivers and savvy business women " comments Kate

"We are very excited to be having our applications reviewed by the Project Podium panel and it is awesome to see a lot of talented women drivers who have applied for the grant, we wish everyone the best of luck." Said Diana

Project Podium grants will be awarded to women on a matched funds basis to drivers who have generated sponsorships and show their commitment and desire to be successful both on the race track and in the business world.

In addition to St. James, the reviewing committee consists of: Vicki O'Connor, managing director of the Atlantic Championship; Linda Conti, financial advisor at David A. Noyes & Co.; Amy Rosewater, sports writer; Angelique Chengelis, The Detroit News motorsports writer; and Erin Crocker, NASCAR driver & Women in the Winner's Circle Driver Development Program graduate.

Current Project Podium partners are: Newman's Own, Grand-Am, NASCAR Foundation, NHRA, Indy Racing League/Firestone Indy Lights, Atlantic Championship, NHRA, Mazda USA, Toyota, VW, Rolex, and Mike Helton.
