Chrysler Sebring launch in Chinese market postponed until next spring

Shanghai. November 22 (Gasgoo.com) - Sebring, the second model produced by Chrysler in Beijing has delayed its launch in the Chinese market to the spring of next year, the company announced earlier this week.

In August, the company once announced to launch Sebring models by late October, but the company postponed its launch for some reasons.

"The timing of launching of new model is determined by two factors: the progress of local production process and the priority arrangement among different models" mexplained Dong Changzheng, deputy president of Beijing Daimler Chrysler-Benz.

"In the next one or two months, we have different products to be launched and we will choose an appropriate occasion to launch Sebring," Dong said, adding that he planned to launch three different versions of Sebring based on 2.0 L, 2.4 L and 2.7 L engines.

Sebring is a mid-upper segment sedan; the price of the model is expected to be 200,000 yuan ($26,000). It will compete with other mid segment sedans such as Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and new Ford Mondeo.

Since Chrysler's 300C, which is locally produced in China, has a good sales record in China's high end market, it is reasonable to believe that Sebring, with a relatively competitive price, will have a strong showing in Chinese market, the Chinese media said.
