SPECIAL EVENT (FONTANA) - California Speedway Announces Southern California Wildfire Relief Aid

California Speedway along with International Speedway Corporation and the France family have joined together to pledge a minimum of $250,000 in services and aid to be donated to relief efforts for the wildfires that have ravaged Southern California this week.

"An amazing thing about being part of the ISC family is that during times of need, they are able to engage national resources to provide local help," said California Speedway President Gillian Zucker. "From hurricanes to the tragedy at Virginia Tech, ISC has always been there for the community and these latest firestorms are no different."

Early this week, as wildfires spread throughout the county, the Speedway began discussions with county officials to offer support to the communities and areas affected by the wildfires.

"It's incredible to have a resource like California Speedway in the Southern California community that can act and provide aid so quickly," said NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson, a native of San Diego, one of the areas most affected by the fires.

On Thursday, California Speedway and the Americrown Service Corporation, the Speedway's food and beverage provider, donated and delivered 22 pallets of beverages including bottled water and Gatorade to the County of San Bernardino Fire Department to aid in relief efforts for the firefighters who have been battling the county's ongoing wildfires. Through its website, California Speedway has also been urging the community to provide donations of items that continue to be of immediate need by the county's firefighters including toiletries and non-perishable snacks. Over 1,500 San Bernardino County residents displaced by the fires have been relocated to the National Orange Show Events Center, less than 15 miles from California Speedway. Tomorrow night, the Speedway has coordinated a movie night for those families and will bring in a mobile theater unit, a free popcorn stand and movies. During the day, the Speedway will also bring in several interactive displays, including a NASCAR show car, a giant race car slide and an inflatable obstacle course to entertain the hundreds of children currently at the center. Speedway employees will be providing operational support. The Speedway has also donated candy, board games, coloring books, crayons and DVDs to families that have been displaced by the fires. In addition, NASCAR star Juan Pablo Montoya has recorded an inspirational message in Spanish which will be broadcast prior to Saturday's movie. Among the other relief efforts for the Southern California communities affected by the wildfires include a donation to the American Red Cross by Johnson and Hendrick Motorsports of their winnings from this weekend's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race. In addition, Speedway Motorsports and Lowe's have committed to match those donations dollar for dollar.
