SHANGHAI - August 14, 2007: CFAW-VW plans to produce a new generation of Audi A4 locally in China by the end of 2008, according to a Chinese media report.

FAW-VW also plans to produce SUV model Audi Q5 in China by the first half of 2009, according to the Beiing News report yesterday.

The purpose of launching Q5 is to better compete with Benz SUV GLK and BMW SUV X3, the Beijing News report said.

Q5 is powered by FSI engine, and its estimated price is about 35,000 in USD (250,000 yuan). Q5 will be built based on the MLP£¨Modular Longitudinal Platform£©platform, on which A4, A6, A8 and Q3 are built, according to the report.

However, FAW-VW public relations officer, Hu Shaohang told Gasgoo.com that he could not confirm the reports by Beijing News.

"We did not release news such as these to any media," Hu said. "Information of this kind is confidential."
