Last night 53 cars took part in the second qualifying session of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The coveted pole position remained with Peugeot Michelin car N°8 driven by Stéphane Sarrazin. The French driver took home the fastest time on his last lap at two past midnight on Wednesday.

No other competitor was able to improve yesterday's time and the positions established during the first session remained solidified, if not drowned!

Today's session can be summarised in three words: wet, wet, wet!

The session started 30 minutes late due to the unforeseen clean up after the Le Mans Legends dropped oil on the circuit. Then torrential rains hit with very little let up between the showers. The track remained wet the entire session. The 38 Michelin shod cars were able to try several rain tyre variations in preparation for a race which is predicted to be very wet.

Matthieu Bonardel - Michelin 4 Wheels Competition Director « This session was disputed under very difficult weather conditions, but proved extremely rewarding for Michelin as we were able to make the necessary comparisons on our rain tyres. The track varied from humid to being completely soaked. We were able to test all the varying solutions and now have our bearings. We know which rain tyre should be offered to our partners depending on the various levels of water on the track. Certain rain tyres « full wet » were specifically recut in order to perform under difficult weather conditions. In all we have tested fifteen types of rain tyres.
