DFW International Airport USO Volunteers Receive Extreme-Car Makeover on Airport Ramp

NASCAR Honors Five With TV Show Who Have Volunteered Hundreds of Hours

DFW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Texas, Feb. 9 -- Five DFW International Airport USO volunteers honored for their dedication to service men and women were treated to car makeovers that will be featured on NASCAR Angels, a syndicated television show scheduled to air nationally February 11. NASCAR Angels, with the help of NASCAR partners, repairs vehicles for deserving people who could use a little help getting their car back on track.

"Our volunteers give of themselves every day, so it's wonderful to see them rewarded," said Rhenda White-Brunner, Director for USO Dallas/Fort Worth. "We'd like to thank NASCAR Angels for recognizing our volunteers who truly needed help with their cars. This will enable them to continue their noble work with the R & R program at DFW."

Since opening its doors on June 14, 2004, the DFW USO has welcomed more than 100,000 military patrons as they passed through the Airport. Most guests are troops coming from, or returning to, duty while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. DFW is one of only two U.S. airports accommodating the military's R & R program. The volunteers also participate in DFW's nationally-recognized "Welcome Home a Hero" campaign that greets soldiers and their families every day at the Airport.

"Our show is all about helping deserving people, and none are more deserving than the DFW USO program volunteers," said Shannon Wiseman, NASCAR Angels co-host and NASCAR.com reporter. "Their dedication to helping returning service men and women who pass through DFW is truly inspiring and we're excited to be able to tell their story to America."

  The following volunteers will be featured on the hour-long program:

   -  Betty Martinez of Seagoville, Texas.  Her son, daughter and son-in-law
      all serve in the Army and at one time, Betty was caring for her two
      grandchildren while their parents served in Iraq.
   -  Gerald Joseph Clore of Corsicana, Texas, served in the Marines during
      Vietnam and is a three-time Purple Heart recipient.
   -  Villa Campagna of North Richland Hills, Texas, volunteers in the USO
      Center and greets the troops every day.
   -  Cynthia E. Burks of Grand Prairie, Texas, served in the Army for 18
      years and remains active in the VFW Post in Roanoke, Texas.
   -  Joan Wright of Dallas is a retired Marine with 13 years of service.
      She not only volunteers at the DFW USO, but is a greeter for the
      "Welcome Home a Hero" program.

"All of us at DFW are so proud of our USO volunteers who give so much time, energy and heart for our soldiers, veterans and their families," said Ken Capps, DFW's vice president of public affairs. "We had a great time with the NASCAR Angels crew, and we are so proud they chose DFW and these amazing USO volunteers to highlight nationally and to our community."

Produced by Magicdust Television and distributed by Litton Entertainment, NASCAR Angels was developed by NASCAR's Charlotte-based Automotive Licensing team to emphasize a message that resonates throughout the entire automotive industry: preventive maintenance.

NASCAR Angels airs nationally in 205 markets. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, it will be shown February 11 at 6 p.m. on Channel 52 KFWD.
