U.S. Crew Wins Final Leg of the Volvo Ocean Race, But Dutch Take Overall Honors - VIDEO ENHANCED STORY
GOTHENBURG - June 19, 2006: After more than 31,000 miles and eight months at sea, the seven yachts in the round-the-world 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race are now permanently docked. While the U.S. yacht, Pirates of the Caribbean, won the last leg of the race by four minutes and 50 seconds, it was the Dutch boat ABN AMRO ONE who took overall honors. Race officials say they are changing the timeline between races from four years to two so the next worldwide international race will set sails from 2008-2009.
