Press Release: Clean Cities Congress and Expo 2006

Fueling Economic Solutions for Alternative Fuels and Advanced Technologies

Las Vegas, NV-April 3, 2006- Alternative fuels and advanced transportation technologies will be featured in the largest industry event of its kind in the nation, the Clean Cities Congress and Expo 2006, which will be held May 7-10, in Phoenix, Arizona.

The industry-sponsored event features a "who's who" of national and international industry leaders and will bring together an expected 1,500 government and industry stakeholders who share the mission of reducing petroleum consumption in the transportation sector. Clean Cities has long supported fuels such as natural gas, ethanol, biodiesel, propane and electricity, and strongly promotes creating incentives for the use of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs).

This year's Congress will focus on "Fueling Economic Solutions" with an eye toward assisting fleets in decision-making that can result in cost savings. "With oil prices nearing $70 a barrel, fleets are taking a financial hit," said Will Kleindienst, chairman of the 2006 Congress. "Because of substantial incentives in the energy bill and the new cost competitiveness of alternative fuels, we're attracting potential customers who never even considered using alternative fuels before."

In addition to the many technical, product- and policy-oriented seminars to be held during the Congress, an all-star lineup of 150 politicians, authors, scholars, and entertainers are scheduled to appear. Speakers include U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who will officially open the Congress; Dr. Robert Hirsch, an energy researcher and analyst in the area of oil supply; Phil Gordon, Mayor of Phoenix; Jim Kenzie, auto reviewer with the Toronto Star; and Lori Weiss, ecological comedian. Attendees will be entertained by the nationally known percussion theatre troupe "Rhythm Express," sponsored by General Motors.

Other unique perspectives will come in a general session that will focus on the financial benefits provided in the Energy Bill. Andrew Littlefair, CEO of Clean Energy Fuels, will facilitate a discussion with the national directors of the major fuel associations, which include the National Biodiesel Board, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, Natural Gas Vehicle America, and the Propane Education and Research Council. American Honda will present the hybrid credits.

The Congress will feature more than 80 exhibitors who will display products and services currently available for purchase and use. These exhibitors will share with attendees the practical knowledge their companies have gained through real-world applications of cutting-edge vehicles and technologies. Attendees will also enjoy an Expo Hall reception, exhibitor Vendor Tracks and a Ride-n-Drive. The Expo Hall will be open to the public on Wednesday, May 10, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

American Honda and General Motors are lead sponsors of the Clean Cities Congress. Additional sponsors include Advanced Fleet, Alloy Custom Products, Alternative Fuel Vehicle Solutions, ANGI International, BAF Technologies, California Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition, City of Phoenix, Clean Energy, Cummins Westport, Daimler Chrysler, Ford, Greenfield Compression, ICF Consulting, IMW, John Deere, Logex, National Biodiesel Board, National Ethanol Vehicle Council, PG&E, Pinnacle CNG Company, Propane Exceptional Energy, Salt River Project, and Toyota.
