Rockford Corporation Announces New Rockford Acoustic Design(TM) Global Brand

Premium System Solution Being Introduced at SEMA

TEMPE, Ariz., Nov. 1 -- Capitalizing on its 25-year history of acoustic engineering, Rockford Corporation today announced Rockford Acoustic Design, a premium mobile audio system solution that blends superior sonic detail and performance with industry-leading technology. The company is introducing the system at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show, the premier automotive specialty products trade event, being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 1-4, 2005.

"With Rockford's long heritage and reputation for world-class mobile audio systems, the Rockford Acoustic Design brand is designed to carry audiophile detail and realism and is aimed at the listener who demands the best and appreciates a pure listening experience," said W. Gary Suttle, president and CEO, Rockford Corporation. "We are aiming for perfection through performance."

Rockford Acoustic Design brings together all of Rockford's industry leading technology capabilities:

MOSFET Amplifiers

The Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) has definite advantages over traditional "bi-polar" devices. It provides extremely fast switching speed. The ultrawide bandwidth delivers effortless performance and because the technology is very rugged, it can pass huge bolts of current into a loudspeaker. And, it has "soft saturation," much like the best feature of tubes.

Trans-nova

Rockford's patented Trans-nova technology provides voltage and current gain at the output state (power gain), unlike other amplifier designs that use "buffers" following voltage gain stages, killing current gain and requiring more parts that result in more noise and distortion. The simple nature of Trans-nova technology provides transparent, dynamic and 3-dimensional sound using the fewest components possible.

Diamond -- Dynamically Invariant Amplifier Operational Nodal Drive

Rockford's Diamond circuitry provides the linearity of a class A operation, the ultimate in pure amplification accuracy, with the efficiency of class AB, which minimizes heat and maximizes efficiency. Diamond also provides up to 14dB additional headroom in the amplifier front end to deliver wider dynamic range and pure sound quality.

High-Clarity Speakers

Rockford optimizes its speaker systems for low distortion and pure sound. It does this by matching system components, creating linear suspensions with damping limits, controlling sound waves directivity and using motor structures that control excursion.

DSP/Speaker and Sound Field Correction

It also utilizes advanced DSP (digital signal processor) technology to correct system speakers and to optimize them to the listening environment including: 1) total correction of frequency and phase anomalies to provide a broad, accurate soundstage and, 2) high resolution of distortion characteristics similar to quality electronic components.

"This high-end brand is expected to appeal to mobile audio listeners who want refined sound, maintain a sophisticated, upscale lifestyle and drive luxury vehicles," continued Mr. Suttle. "We want to deliver a pure listening experience derived from our legendary acoustic engineering technologies -- and the best new technologies -- that can be found in the mobile audio industry," concluded Mr. Suttle.
