Walter Hager Joins The Auto Channel Editorial Staff

By Bob Gordon;

As President and Co-publisher of The Auto Channel it is my goal to provide you with as many varied intellegent opinions about cars you have the opportunity to purchase.

Today’s automobiles are for the most part reliable, comfortable and look pretty good, and so there is very little “black or white” to say in New Car Reviews.

The days of consumers making a “bad decision” in the car they buy are long over. Today even the entry level offerings have long warranties, are manufactured using quality production techniques and are designed by the famous design houses around the world.

So as the old bromide declares “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and so we declare, that the more opinions you can read, the smarter you will become and the “righter” will be your automotive purchase.

To that end I am happy to welcome, and eager to introduce you to a new member of The Auto Channel writing staff, Walter Hager…welcome aboard.

I asked Walter to send in a few words that reflect his editorial bent and vocational background…here they are.

As you will see, I'm a new-car enthusiast! I like all types of cars, even the classics, but my main interest has always been in the new models that roll out each year. They just keep getting better!

Aside from contributing articles to The Auto Channel, I currently write new vehicle reviews for Celebrate Northwest Arkansas magazine (www.celebratenwa.com), Show Me The Ozarks magazine (www.showmetheozarks.com), and Sam’s Club Auto Buying Program. I also do national freelance work for All You magazine (a Time, Inc. publication). Some of the articles that you will see on The Auto Channel will also have been or will be published in these magazines.

I have a lifelong passion for cars....it began when I started collecting Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars when I was a kid. I still have those cars, hundreds of them, but now I'm into collecting NASCAR merchandise, which I am also a huge fan of.

Every year, I impatiently wait the start of the auto show season, with Detroit being the biggest....and then there's the normal new-car debut season in late September-early October. I live for these times of year, as I can't wait to see what the automakers will have in store for us next.

In college I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an Associate’s degree in Business. After spending four years at the Wal-Mart corporate office in Arkansas I decided it wasn’t where I needed to be. I was constantly talking about cars with my co-workers…it was then that I realized I need to have a career dealing with cars every day! I left in April 2004 and quickly built my writing career. This is definitely something I see myself doing the rest of my life! I hope my enthusiasm and dedication to my new career are evident in my work, and I hope you enjoy it!

I look forward to sharing my observations and viewpoints concerning new cars and trucks with you.
