Hackettstown, N.J. - The No. 1 candy brand in the world is searching for THE MOST COLORFUL FAN(tm) of NASCAR®.

NASCAR® fans dressed in their Sunday best will have the opportunity at each race from the season-opener in Daytona through the September 30 race at Kansas Speedway to be photographed and to eventually vie for the title of most colorful fan.

"We've always said that NASCAR® has the most colorful fans of any sport, and here's your chance to show us just how colorful you are," said Red, "M&M's"® spokescandy and NASCAR® fan. "NASCAR® fans are the greatest in the world, and we want to recognize them for how great and how colorful they are."

Here's how the contest works:

Each race, "M&M's"® spokescandies Red and Yellow will take a break from their jobs as pit crew members on board the No. 36 M&M's® Brand Racing Pontiac to find the flashiest fans of America's No. 1 spectator sport.

"Every weekend we'll be busting our candy shells as we make our way through the stands looking for the flashiest fans," Red said. "We are hoping to see a lot of colorful and exciting outfits out there."

"And you don't have to be a fan of the M&M's® Racing Team. You can be a Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte or a Jeff Gordon fan. You just have to look cool and like NASCAR® a whole lot," Yellow added.

For instance, say you like to deck out in the bright yellow of the "M&M's"® Brand Racing Team, and you wear a hat and a T-shirt with Red and Yellow on it to every race. Chances are that you'll catch Red and Yellow's eyes wandering in your direction.

But Red and Yellow will be looking for all sorts of NASCAR® fans. They want fans of the Rainbow Warriors, fans wearing the orange of the No. 20 team and if you're wearing the famous Petty blue, chances are they'll choose you too

"We want all sorts of fans and all sorts of colors," Red said. "Dress up in your team's colors from your hats to your socks. Paint your face. Do whatever it takes to get noticed."

At each race, a team of photographers will choose 12 colorful fans from the crowd. These fans will be posted on www.colorfulfan.com. For one week following the race, visitors to the web site can vote for their favorite fan.

Each week, the fan with the highest percentage of votes goes to the "Winner's Circle." At the end of the month, the fan in the "Winner's Circle" with the highest percentage of votes will win a VIP trip for four to the 2002 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That's where nine contestants will compete for the title of THE MOST COLORFUL FAN(tm) of NASCAR®.

United States residents 13 and older are eligible, so get out to the race track and show your true colors.

"Everybody knows that we're the most colorful race team on pit road," Red said. "We know that there are some colorful people up in those stands, too; and you are who we are looking for. Show us your colors and help us find THE MOST COLORFUL FAN(tm) of NASCAR®."
